传统常用的工业纸管（筒）胶主要有明胶、糊化淀粉（包括氧化淀粉及改性淀粉）、聚乙烯醇缩甲醛液（107）胶粘剂、聚醋酸乙烯乳液（白乳胶）、PVA溶液等。
其中明胶、淀粉类胶粘剂由于粘接强度低、存放期短已基本不使用；聚乙烯醇胶粘剂[敏感词]的缺点就是耐水性差，工业纸管耐压强度随存放时间增加大幅度下降，经缩醛化后虽然可得到部分改善，但仍然不能满足要求；聚醋酸乙烯乳液的耐水性比前几种胶粘剂都要好，但初粘力低、粘接后工业纸管的耐压强度和抗蠕变性差是其主要缺点。
